i thought about what it means to get old

cried watching a 13-minute-long documentary about quilting
where is my harmony?
carved into Petra?
the same way we all buttered our bread
through rain I came uncrumbed
checkered pawns made of mulch and rocks,
it’s time for this whirlwind to wind up again
orange zest under your fingernails
bird feeding frenzy
climb through my window at night
let them all see you,
head full of wordplay and curls
gently all the way around,
tonguing a slow lap
i’ll drive
you’ll passange
ring, ring
left a voicemail with your freckle
this is more itinerary than poem
but we are running out of time
