Sovereign

I put ideas into the heads of foot soldiers
And then I send them on their way to
Get the job done,
I am the sovereign,
I am the one.

I bring cold gusts upon cities with which
I freeze hearts until the time comes when I
Become bored with them and then
I thaw them out again
In the sun,
I am the sovereign,
I am the one.

I wait for the right moment
To summon among strangers
A new panging or a throbbing
In the breast that then leads to a
Check up at the doctor which then
Reveals a malignant cancer
In the lung,
I am the sovereign,
I am the one.

I bring the rabble to the metropolis
And set them loose upon the gentility
And then install them into that position
And then I wait ten generations
And then I rinse and repeat the cycle
Just for fun,
I am the sovereign,
I am the one.

I wander disguised among
Different civilizations,
I wear their costumes and make
Seemingly innocuous remarks to their
Peoples (in private)
Which in reality slowly
Unravel their social fabrics until their
Worlds come undone,
I am the sovereign,
I am the one.

I am a roaming immortal that is bored with
This world so I toy with its
Occupants until among them
I find at least one single
Interesting one,
I am the sovereign,
I am the one.
