SINKING

Bruising        is a cityscape    (subtext:    emotional instability
is transient/transnational)    A philosophy dropped     like a penny
to pick up sexual tension        be the tile work    of a Tetris enthusiast
my memory runs up     the tab on departures/arrivals    A broken stone
of     talking     points overcooked     in a bouquet of tulips
crashing into the lingo     of lax politics    I relent        I am talked over
a misunderstood gamble        thrown out         to passers-by
like an unmoored inventory of     drive-thru dialects     A threat lives
behind     my sternum—    a broad grin    osteo-music    offers surrender
to posture slip    + I crumble against my menace        All night I
whisper equations    for tongue knot nibble + press    finger-walks
on lost latitudes     to cross-over     hooked on     a beautiful wreckage
my holy book     window seat discussion         slips under radar
slips under the skull     a small rose stain of daylight    dulling
by a wash of listening     etching the old lines        of ebb and flow
into the broken boulders     I collect for my chest:     Sinking
