Life has been drifting in an odd
direction.
The power was cut at our remodel today.
The painters didn’t speak English so we looked at each other for a few moments.
Finally, the other carpenter said, la luz,
and then made a snapping motion with his hands,
and then a slit across his throat.
Recently, thoughts have been sparse,
I don’t write them down.
The day ends and I wash my hands,
I let the water splash and I think,
there is no better life than this,
a life without thoughts.
