In Sickness

A wrung towel
gives water
with a wrist’s simple flexion,
then is unfurled
delicately, with ceremony,
and restored to a square of dampened linen
to be draped upon my ready face.
Upturned, as a supplicant,
I open my eyes to a world
of cool white,
where the light
catches on every fiber,
framing your visage
in a muted radiance,
so in my delirium you appear
all the more angelic.
