Flesh Monad

Dead futurists predict
what we already know,
two years too late.
Their brain atoms
are beginning to unfreeze.
Do you hear the blood
in the throat of the guy
sitting next to you?
When the whole city
is made up of you,
how will we spend
our days? Manhattan’s
atoms are made out of dead
people and my atoms want
your atoms. The universe
is close and far but never
inside or outside. Nature
is called bountiful because
a single old man can raise
an entire flock of ducks
from eggs. The Cook comes
and does the rest.
