white dress, high necked, long sleeved, straight back
there is the control
ready for the virgin to be tucked tightly
hands folded like clean laundry
one on top of the other
ready at all times
for her name chiseled on an angels’ scroll
marble eyes that never shut
closed mouth that never spoke her secrets
she feigning innocence
she and the children white on white
they titter behind the dark green yews
there is the control
ready for the virgin to be tucked tightly
hands folded like clean laundry
one on top of the other
ready at all times
for her name chiseled on an angels’ scroll
marble eyes that never shut
closed mouth that never spoke her secrets
she feigning innocence
she and the children white on white
they titter behind the dark green yews
