Delta Sun

With wild horses
and the dogs in ditches,
behind barbed wire
and wide open spaces,
where roadkill shepherds
starry highway funeral parades,
encouraged by the smell of fried chicken
or jasmine,
I’m learning how to change oil
and kiss with my eyes open,
between the blue ridge mountains
and the delta sun.
and the dogs in ditches,
behind barbed wire
and wide open spaces,
where roadkill shepherds
starry highway funeral parades,
encouraged by the smell of fried chicken
or jasmine,
I’m learning how to change oil
and kiss with my eyes open,
between the blue ridge mountains
and the delta sun.
